Castlebar Coat – Brown Herringbone

£ 850.00

The Castlebar Coat in brown takes its name from the leading town of Mayo, far in the misty west of Ireland. Castlebar, from Castle Barry or de Burgh, was the fastness of the Anglo-Norman Burke clan and subsequently that of the later English settlers as the Binghams and Lucans. It is a land of feud and intrigue, theft, betrayal and rebellion, carried over the centuries by Catholic and Protestant, Norman, French, Spanish, English and Irish. The countryside around is wild and romantic, with peat bogs, heather moors and mountains, rising to the backdrop of the vast Atlantic Ocean and making parts of the County the westernmost tip of Europe; the very Celtic twilight lands of the poet Yeats, steeped in myth and barely credible histories. The Coat marries an easy Celtic swing below the waistline with a more reserved, buttoned up, fierce formality to the upper body. The castlebar coats come in both brown and blue herringbone.

Brown Castlebar Coat

The Castlebar Coat is constructed in a Shetland inspired pure new wool tweed, for performance, with a touch of lamb’s wool for a more luxurious feel. Available in both light blue herringbone, with orange pop, and in brown herringbone, with a chartreuse pop, the fabrics have been nano-treated to repel moisture and dirt. Single-breasted fastening, with two deep side pleats on the back, allows full movement, whilst the cuff has been designed to extend over the wrist when shooting, which exposes the stunning colour contrast.

The brown herringbone colourway, with its light and fine Peter Pan collar, shows off an eye-catching chartreuse pop colour designed to be elegant, but also appropriate in the field.

The brown castlebar coat has been made using the finest British wool made in Scotland by skilled craftspeople in a family business, whose manufacturing heritage dates back to 1874.

The ladies brown Coat has several features enhancing its suitability for hunting and shooting. Amongst these are; a single breasted seven button fastening, action back with deep pleats, patch pockets and more. The design combined with the functionality of this coat is what makes it unique.

The women’s brown castlebar coat can be matched with several products from the Lucan Fashion collection. Lucan recommend matching the brown ladies coat with the ladies vest in brown and the ladies trousers in brown to achieve the perfect outfit. Furthermore combining this with Lucan’s famous brown flat cap will fulfil the outfit and make you stylish enough to turn heads in watering holes of the metropolis.
